The faculty of Law currently has three departments;
1: Department of Constitutional Law and Human Rights
Operating under the Head of Department, this department will deal with both academic and thematic matters concerning Constitutional Law and Human Rights. The Department also oversees its existing centers including the Social Justice Concern
SOCIAL JUSTICE CONCERN
Administratively, the Centre operates under the Department of Constitutional Law and Human Rights of the Faculty of Law. The Centre strives, inter alia, to deal with matters relating to Business and Human Rights, Legal Aid; and Public Interest Litigation
As regards, Business and Human Rights, the Centre seeks to promote social corporate responsibility (CSR) by corporations. In doing so the Centre seeks to raise awareness of CSR by informing corporations directly or through other media of the need to voluntarily comply with and commit to protect, promote and respect human rights in workplaces and the surrounding localities in line with the United Nations Principles for Business and Human Rights. The Centre also seeks to create a coalition of the willing companies that adhere to the Global Compact. The Centre also seeks to promote best practices of CSR by naming and shaming corporations that violate human rights.
As regards, Legal Aid the Centre conducts free legal aid clinics accessible to every person in the public. The Centre also invites every individual having a complaint to submit it to the centre for review and advice. The complaint form is accessible on the University website: www.mzuedu.online
The Centre also trains and provide placement for paralegals specifically for giving legal aid under the oversight of the University. Interested Individuals may apply for training of paralegals by visiting the website. Qualified paralegals may apply for placement.
As regards, public interest litigation, the centre accepts complaints and represents selected individuals in local and international courts, tribunals, committees and other fora. A complaint form is accessible on the University website: www.mzuedu.online
2: Department of Commerce and Investment
Operating under the Head of Department, this department will deal with both academic and thematic matters concerning Commerce and Investment.
The Department acts as a think tank in all matters of commerce and investment by proving updated and accurate information regarding laws, regulations, policies and trends of commerce and investment globally. In doing so the Department prepares database, brochures, graphs, and compilations of laws, regulations, policies and procedures of investing in selected countries, immigration and employment laws and procedures of selected countries as well as eligibility criteria and timetable of exhibitions worldwide.

The Department prepares compilation of international treaties, resolutions, case laws and publications to enable students and practitioners to acquire readily available and accessible information regarding international law.
